Welcome to the Mega Book Collection Digital Book.
A Sega Megadrive / Genesis visual opus digital download
This was a journey of LOVE for me, and if you enjoy the book as much as I enjoyed making it please consider a Donation via Paypal to paypal.me/Atarigamer as a show of thanks for the book.
Being a long-time Sega fan and with the success of our previous books – “Atari: a Visual History” and the “Coin-Op: The Arcade Guide“, we wanted to rediscover the Sega 16-bit era and wanted to do this machine justice by creating something that will teleport us all back to late 1980s and 1990s when we first played this great 16-bit console.
The Mega Book Collection has been designed & presented exclusively in digital format and carries over 293 pages of full-colour content, covering many classic Sega and its third-party titles from the Sega Mega Drive / Genesis, MegaCD / SegaCD and Sega 32x libraries all in one amazing book. And what this unbelievable is we are giving it to you for FREE!
Why are giving this away?
We attempted to bring this book physically to everyone back in 2021 via crowdfunding but alas we were unable to do so. So going forward, we decided rather than this amazing project to be left sitting on a hard drive gathering dust forever, we made the decision to offer it for free for everyone to enjoy and because we are very nice and generous people here at Greyfox Books and love to support the Sega retro gaming scene.
What to expect?
We have managed to beg, steal, borrow and recruit an amazing bunch of Megadrive fanatics to contribute to the book for a wider variety of opinions and personal reflections of the games you will see within the Mega Book Collection Digital Book. We have taken a great deal of time to focus deeply on providing a Sega style of aesthetic and design throughout the book, capturing that nostalgic vibe that provides you with that “right back in the day” experience.
The Megabook Collection will primarily focus on the splendid glory of “The Games“. These have been painstakingly chosen from the vast Megadrive library which we don’t mind saying, was no easy task let us tell you, as we had to really go for gold with their selection. We have also been extremely lucky to have a British gaming legend, co-creator of GamesMaster and guest host and editor of a great variety of UK gaming magazines to name but a few to his credit, the infamous Dave “Games Animal” Perry to write the foreword for the MegaBook Collection Book and an interview with Core Design founding member “Chris Shrigley” who worked on many Mega-Cd Titles for the Sega Megadrive.
Being a massive fan of the Sega Megadrive aesthetic, we have pulled out all the stops to deliver as close to the authentic box-style design and include some amazing facts about the Sega Megadrive for your reading enjoyment. The Games covered will also have a distinctive Megadrive vibe in writing style too.

Excellent , a pure visual feast highlighting so many classic Mega Drive & Mega CD gems
I loved the fact there were personal favorites’ that I wasn’t expecting like the awesome Buck Rogers and Demolition Man game
which are always overlooked. Fantastic style and great mini reviews , an brilliant read that just oozes with style.

Very nice selection of games, including some you rarely see mentioned in other Retro channels. Sign of work done by a true fan of the console who lived through its glory days!
There is however some custom art made using the game’s sprites that are pretty cool.
All in all a great travel back into the history of the console.

An epic near 300-page look at the history of of the Mega Drive / Genesis all the way up to the 32X with a smattering of some of the Console’s most well known games and some other less well known favourites.
Thank you to the Sega lawyers for bringing this book to my attention that I probably would have otherwise probably never heard about.
Would have loved the opportunity to purchase a Hardback / paperback copy, but kudos to the team for deciding to release it as a free download regardless.

Sloopy Malibu –
This is an excellent behind the scenes and history on the Genesis. It is a shame Sega cant see the benefits of having this published to the public at large.
