Description
The “Coin-Op: The Arcade Guide” has been in the making for roughly 8 years now, I wanted to create a visual-heavy book dedicated to Coin-Op arcade games, and so this book was born. It features a huge collection of amazing arcade titles in one book for the very first time, ranging from the ’80s to the ’90s. This second book from me (Darren Doyle) & Greyfox Books will pay a huge tribute to this incredible and fascinating pastime we all loved during our childhood and even now into adulthood. These classic Coin-op arcade games have made a remarkable comeback in recent years, becoming very popular once more through emulation or even Mini Arcade cabinets.
The Coin-Op: The Arcade Guide is the first for a book specializing in the visual aspect of classic arcade games never represented in this manner before. The full premise of this book is to produce a visually rich experience based on multiple genres of classic arcade titles.
The book will be split into 9 chapters to cover all areas of the Coin-Op gaming scene in a fully-fledged hardback book. Chapters in the book will cover:
Side-scrolling Beat’em up games, Arcade Driving games, Arcade Shoot’em’ ups, Arcade Action games, Miscellaneous arcade games, Obscure arcade games, Arcade Horror inspired games, 1 vs. 1 Fighting games, Arcade Hall of Fame, Interviews, and two amazing gate-fold outspreads.
With over 100 classic arcade games covered, each one has its own bespoke layout to showcase each game in all its visual beauty. We have some amazing arcade trivia for you in here too and some exclusive interviews and much more ensuring a premium publication with a word count of 60,000 – 70,000 words. I have also included some really neat bespoke ideas that you will discover as you read the book, but that will have to remain a surprise for now. The main aim is to produce the book in an A4 annual-sized orientation. I believe it would be criminal to have it any smaller than this and it will feature the following specifications:
- Annual Size format
- Book size: 8.5” x 11.5
- Book Cover: Gloss finish
- Paper stock: 140-150gsm page thickness
- Page count: 300 pages + endpapers (imagery)
- Print quality: Satin Silk Finish (highest finish)
- Binding: thread-sewn bind
- Weight: 2.066kg
